Where in Jakarta can I find a super clean 3-4 star hotel?
Find flightsyasoshagh asked:
I plan to travel with my husband and five year old daughter to jakarta in around April-May 2008. Because of a young child I’m super concious of cleanliness and I would like to reserve a good 3-4 star hotel for around $60-70 /night. I plan to move ahead to bali from there.
Can you please give me some suggestions?

There is a huge number of 3-4 star hotels in Jakarta, you should first decide where you plan to go or where your main activities are going to be, considering that traffic is just awful and it will take you forever to get where you’re going if you stay too far or in a very busy area.
Check out this website, created by and for expatriates, who know what your expectations might be. It also has great info + links on Bali.

Why not spend an additional $10, because a lot of 5 star hotels in Jakarta charge $80. And you can have the assurance of the hotel being clean, safe and equipped with modern facilities.
Otherwise, here are a few choices for you and yours. Book through a travel agent or 3rd party online reservation to get additional discount off the published rates:
- Aston Atrium $67 (www.astonatrium.co.id/)
- Millenium Hotel $70 (www.millenniumhotels.com/id/millenniumjakarta/index.html)
- Ibis Slipi $60 (www.ibishotel.com/ibis/fichehotel/gb/ibi/1736/fiche_hotel.shtml)
As for $80 hotels, here are a couple for your consideration:
- Hyatt Aryaduta (jakarta.aryaduta.hyatt.com)
- The Sultan (www.sultanjakarta.com)

I think with USD 60-70 you could get 5-star standard hotel in Jakarta. Note: the classes are 5-star standard, 5-star diamond, 5-star boutique hotels.
To encounter the previous answer above:
I assume you are foreigner who doesn’t have Limited Stay Permit Card (KITAS), so the rate usually applied to non-KITAS holder is in USD, not in IDR.
Not all location of the hotels offered by ‘economist’ above are that “strategic”. If you want to be nearer to the city center, I suggest the below 5-star standard hotels that located on the road-side of the main avenue:
In Jalan Sudirman: Hotel Le Meridien, Hotel Sahid Jaya, Hotel Sultan (previously Hotel Hilton).
In Jalan Thamrin: Hotel Nikko, Hotel Sari Pan Pacific.
5-star diamond:
In Jalan Sudirman: Hotel Inter-continental.
In Jalan Thamrin: Hotel Grand Hyatt.
For 3-star hotel, the good one is Hotel Cemara in Jalan Cemara, near Jalan Wahid Hasyim and Jalan Thamrin.
Have a nice visit to Indonesia

If you stay in Jakarta all 4 and 5 star hotels for the rate you mentionened do have international standard, the rooms are very clean so no need to worry about this. Most of these hotel are in traffic crowded areas so take care about the location and the facilities like big garden and pool to have an oasis inside the bustling city and an alternate program for your daughter.
