Please help with Chicago information! Where to stay?
Find Hotelkushmoney asked:
Here goes, we are a group of younger 21-25 males coming to Chicago August 2nd to see our hometown Philadelphia Phillies in the historic Wrigley Field. We go to a different location every year. Anyway, we are trying to find a decent location to stay in, thats affordable and close to things or not too far where we couldnt get to easily. So far I have looked at the Ramada Inn Lake Shore, Super 8 Loyola University location, and the Travelodge Chicago downtown. I looked at things in the Ohare Airport location too that were cheap (is this out of the question?) We are not looking to do museums, shopping.. we are basically going for the nightlife, and the baseball game for a few nights. Which area/hotel would be the best safest and easiest for us. Please please any help would be great. Thanks.

The motels you listed are all right.
If you want to find cheap motels, check out the remaining motels on N. Lincoln Avenue, north of Foster Avenue and south of Devon Avenue. Mayor Daley is trying to take them over and gentrify them because of prostitution and drug dealing. But if you mind your own business, you’ll be safe.
Take the train (and/or bus) to Wrigley Field. As for nightlife, check out Funky Buddha Lounge, Weed Street District (a neighborhood of bars and clubs, including Crobar, which may be difficult to get in), Transit, and the Warehouse District (another neighborhood of bars and clubs, including Lumen).
Or you can hang out in Wrigleyville after the games - there are tons of places to hang out at around Wrigley Field

I’d suggest you guys stay at a hostel. There’s one right in the middle of downtown, close to public transportation, a few bars, the local college dorm (ahem…), etc. It’s easy to get to and from there to Wrigley field… just one train (the red line). It’s safe, has 24 hour security on staff.
If you don’t know what a hostel is, it’s cheap accomodations for travelers that offers no frills. No mints on the pillows, etc. It’s mostly used by foreign kids and adults traveling around the world, so you might meet a lot of chicks from all over the world staying there (again, ahem…). And the best part is it’s cheap. About $35 a night, maybe less if you get a group rate. And it’s not some fleabag place. Like I said, it’s for people who would rather spend their money on sightseeing, food, beer, etc. than on a room that they might spend a few hours in a day. I stayed at one when I went to London a few times and it was great. The accomodations are sort of like dorm rooms so all of might be staying in the same room on bunks.
There is a communal kitchen in the hostel where you can buy your own food and cook it yourself.
Like I said, a bunch of guys coming into Chicago to watch a baseball.. I’m thinking you’d rather save your money for all the bars near Wrigley Field.
