Three of us are going to Chicago and we know ZIP! What are some good places to go to that are also relatively cheap. We’re college students so we’re kind poor. Clubs, hotels, anything, points of interest. Please any chicago natives, let us know

Where do I begin? If you want to do something cheap…well, you won’t find anything downtown. The best way to expericence the city is going on some tours throughout the city. That will give you a brief history of this fantastic city. Navy Pier is the top tourist attraction in Chicago and does have lots of shops and restaurants within as well as having tour boats to take you along the Lakefront and also down the Chicago River. The Sears Tower and the Hancock Building are great ways to view the city from above but out of the two, the Hancock gives you the better view of the actual city. Wrigleyville is also a place of interest because of Wrigley Field and the Chicago Cubs are there and there are bars and restaurants every which way. If possible, try to get tickets to a game and you will have a great time at the best ballpark in the country with worldclass fans. Lincoln Park is also an amazing place that is very upscale and fancy. There is way too much to do but you may need to bring some extra cash for it. I can’t really think of anything else that you may be able to get to. You need at LEAST two weeks to scratch the surface of the city. Michigan Ave is popular too but it is more shopping than anything else. Greek, China Town, Little Italy, Little Village etc. are great places to eat and see the different cultures. Sorry I couldnt help you out more but I live on the East Coast but would give anything to move back. It is one of the cleanest cities I’ve ever been to. Peace and Love

Hmm, Chicago is not a cheap city (much like Manhattan), but here are some things to do that might be in your price range, and also unique and fun:
1. I suggest this place to anyone coming to Chicago: Mojo Spa. It’s a great beauty boutique that’s been featured in a lot of different magazines. It’s owned by a chef that left the food industry and started concocting home-made beauty products that are AMAZING. On Sundays, they serve you an incredible brunch while you get your nails done. A mani-pedi will run you about $50, but that’s pretty standard in Chicago.. It’s worth a visit even if you don’t get your nails done. It’s small, but they have the best products.
2. Ethyl’s Chocolate Lounge. There are about three or four in Chicago, and the best thing there is the chocolate fondue for 20 bucks. It will feed three or four people, and comes with a variety of fruits for dipping. It’s delicious and totally fun.
3. Riding the ferris wheel at Navy Pier is really fun, and only about 6 bucks a person. You’ll get a really great view of the city, and if you go at sunset, it’s stunning.
4. State Street shopping is less expensive than Michigan Ave. They have a Forever 21, Nordstrom Rack, Lowemans, H&M, Filene’s Basement, Urban Outfitters, etc.
5. Deep dish pizza. While I’m not a fan of deep dish myself, you should definitely get some. A large at most places will run you about 20 bucks, and it will feed four people easily. One piece and you’re stuffed. Giordano’s is right off Michigan and a favorite among Chicagoans (730 Rush Street).
6. If you want to get a view from the Hancock or Sears tower, do the Hancock, and wait in the line to get into the lounge. You’ll pay for the view and a cocktail, rather than just the view. The wait usually is about a half an hour starting around 4-5 p.m., but it’s so worth it. I went at sunset with my future mother-in-law and it was amazing, and also, not that crowded around 5 p.m.
Those are the basics, really. You could spend an entire day eating and shopping on Michigan Ave. You’ll always run into fun things to do. I’m not sure of cheap hotels, though, because most of the ones I’m familiar with are all downtown, and cost a lot. I would suggest hotels.com, though. If you find a hotel you like that’s affordable, you can message me from my profile, and I can let you know if it’s a good area or not.
Happy planning!
