I live in Johnson City, TN and I am planning on going to NYC in March 2008. I have drove to Chicago, Miami, and New York before but I would like to fly this time. What is the best way to find a cheap flight and hotel for two people? I don’t mind to drive a little way to a cheaper airport than TRI. Is there a better airport to fly into NYC or a better day to fly on?

Go to orbitz.com and just try a few different locations and dates to fly. You can just put in a general area and it will give you a list of airport. Hope this helps.

sidestep.com- they search all the online flight sites for the best deal. Most sites- orbits, travelocity, hotwire allow you to bid on hotel rooms and flights.
I would just go to all the different sites and spend a little time looking at their hotel+flight packages, they seem to vary week from week. Travelocity tends to cost the most.

Prices vary all the time from airport to airport. One day this airport is the best, next time its this airport. Anyways generally a n airport of a smaller city has less taxes to pay, therefore less cost to you.
The best way to get cheap tickets is to check online (expedia.com, travelocity.com, cheaptickets.com etc) check this during the night as prices are cheaper, wednesdays and sundays are said to be the “cheaper” days howwver i do not believe this. On the internet sites u can do a combo with plane tickets and hotel, saving u alot of money.
my personal fav site is, it usually has the cheapest out of most online flight and hotel deals.
stay away most from hotwire and travelocity

Try click on “book travel” enter the days you want to fly, you will get a price for the airline ticket and another price for ticket and hotel, usually very good prices at 3 or 4 star hotels, try it!
